Health and Safety when connecting peripherals

There are many different peripherals which need connected up to a computer. The peripherals such as speakers so that you are able to listen to sound coming from your pc, a printer so that you are able to print documents of, a digital camera so that you are able to transfer pictures from your camera to the pc. There are also many other peripherals that you can connect to such as a microphone, scanner, keyboard, mouse etc. When connecting these you need to take into consideration the health and safety of yourself and others.

Speakers – before connecting the speakers to the computer you must make sure that your computer is switched off and disconnected from the socket, this will reduce the chance of getting an electrical shock. After doing this you can then connect the speakers to your computer. You need this peripheral so that you are able to hear the sound that is coming from your computer. This is good if you are watching YouTube videos and listening to music.


 
Printer – before connecting a printer to your computer you need to make sure that it is turned off and disconnected from the socket so that you or your peers have less chance of receiving an electrical shock. After making sure all electrical equipment is turned of and disconnected you are then able to set up your printer. After you have connected your printer you are free to then turn your computer back on so you can finish setting the printer up and then you can test it. You need this peripheral so that you are able to print documents, emails, pictures etc.


Digital Camera - before connecting a digital camera to your computer you need to make sure that it is turned off and disconnected from the socket so that you or your peers have less chance of receiving an electrical shock. After making sure all electrical equipment is turned of and disconnected you are then able to set up your camera. After you have done this you can then turn your computer back on so that you can use your camera to transfer your pictures so that they are saved on your computer. You can then delete them of your camera so its read to take more.
